ABOUT JAMIE
Jamie Caplan, Esq. is an attorney, educator and school founder.
Most families need three different experts. Lumina combines three expert lenses into one.
Most families navigating an IEP need three different people: an attorney who understands special education law, an educator who understands how the child actually learns, and a founder who has built and run the kind of program their child deserves. Jamie is all three.
The Attorney
Licensed attorney trained in special education law, IDEA, and Section 504. Regularly waived in as an expert in learning disabilities. Credible under cross. Fluent in the language of compliance, liability, and due process.
The Educator
Three decades inside the classroom and the IEP meeting. Jamie knows what a good IEP looks like in practice — not in theory. She has read tens of thousands of pages of evaluation data and knows exactly where the gaps are.
The Founder
Jamie founded The Legacy School, a school for students with dyslexia and learning differences, and grew it from seventeen students to over one hundred. She has hired and trained the faculty who do this work every day. She has sat on both sides of the IEP table.
“Typically parents wind up paying for both a lawyer and an educational advocate. With Jamie, she is an expert in both fields.”
— Wayne Cornblatt, former client
